Location –
Louisiana has a coastline on the Gulf of Mexico. Texas is to its west and Mississippi to the
east with Arkansas to the north.
Origin
of name – Named after King Louis XIV of France – the area was
French governed. It was later purchased
by the US for about $15million – not a bad deal! Lousiana became a state in 1812.
