Books You Loved: November
had some super books – as always. Some
reviews that caught my eye were:
For mystery lovers, Journey-and-Destination brought over The
Franchise Affair by Josephine Tey. Carol's review said that the book 'was a splendid
mystery and an irresistible read. The characters were wonderfully drawn, the
plot original, and the ending unguessable'
Reading
the World by Ann Morgan was reviewed by Let's Read. Marianne said 'So, whether you want to conquer the
world by reading it or just would like to enlarge your spectrum of literature,
this is a great book to read. It gives you the instigation to read more books
that are not in your comfort zone and thereby getting to know the world better,
even your own place in it.'
Drawing
Lessons by Patricia Sands was reviewed by Silver's Reviews. Elizabeth's review said 'If you enjoy traveling, reading about France's beautiful landscapes and
life of the French people, French artists especially Vincent Van Gogh, making
new friends, and helping another person to feel welcome and overcome a problem,
then DRAWING LESSONS will be an enjoyable read for you.'
The
Librarian of Auschwitz by Antonio Iturbe was brought over by
The Children's War. The review said 'Though fear, hunger, cold, death, cruelty, and loss of loved ones are
the daily experiences of Dita and the other prisoners in Auschwitz and
Bergen-Belsen, ultimately The
Librarian of Auschwitz is a life-affirming novel that manages to end on
a note of hope for the future.'
Take
Off Your Pants!: Outline Your Books for Faster, Better Writing by
Libbie Hawker was reviewed by Captivated
Reader. She said 'I like Ms.
Hawker's clear writing style and the outline techniques she lays out for those
wishing to write a novel. Ms. Hawker's outline techniques make sense and she
gives plenty of examples in her book on how and why the outline works so
successfully.'
Now on to the December
collection. Remember the posts you link
in don't have to be recent and the book concerned doesn't have to have been
recently published or read. The only
requirement is that it is about a book that you loved.
To add to the list just pop the name of the book (and
your name/blog name if you like) into the first Mr Linky box and then copy and
paste the url of your post about it into the second box.
I'll be pinning your links to this Pinboard to make it easier
for you to check them out at a glance.
You will also find last November's books there as well.
Thank you, Carole, for the opportunity! Happy Holidays to you and all your blog followers!
ReplyDeleteCatherine Marshall's CHRISTY-- As relevant and enthralling today as it was when it was first published 50 years ago. A modern American classic for a reason.
